Offaly ALDI shoppers faithful to four-legged friends

Offaly shoppers are the most likely in country to spend on their cats and dogs, according to new figures released by retailer ALDI.

New data released by retailer ALDI, has revealed Ireland’s favourite products, and highlights changing customer behaviours and shopping trends.

The data, which analyses sales from ALDI’s 160 Irish stores, based in every county in the country, shows that mini banana packs, bananas and fresh milk are the three biggest selling products nationwide.

The Midi bananas packs are the biggest selling item in Offaly ALDI stores.

Milk and bananas are essential staple products for households across the 26 counties, with these products consistently among the top five sellers in every single county. Five different product sizes and varieties of both products feature in the Top 20 selling products, according to ALDI.

Beyond bananas and milk, the product diversity showcased in the top selling products nationally is striking. Key household essentials such as butter and bread are also among the most bought products at ALDI stores.

Offaly stands out as one of the two counties where cat trays (100g), dog trays (300g), and dog trays (150g) are featured in the top 20 selling products. This unique regional preference showcases Offaly’s unique consumer landscape, focusing the significance of pet care in the community.

Beyond pet related items, ALDI’s data reveals other unique products making the Top 20 in Offaly, such as crumbed lean ham and premium baked beans. Alongside other popular best-selling products like carrots, baby potatoes, butter, and bread, ALDI shoppers in Offaly have also shown a clear preference for strong protein and nutritional meals.

ALDI currently operates two stores in Offaly – in Tullamore and Edenderry, and recently announced plans to open a second store in Tullamore as part of a €33.6 million investment in new stores in the Midlands.

Alongside food and pet staples, household products have also proved popular with ALDI shoppers, with Eco shopping bags, tissues and baby wipes among the 30 biggest selling lines.
