Kathleen Chada to speak at Tullamore Library
The mother of two young boys who were murdered by their father will read from her powerful new book at a free event in Tullamore Library tomorrow evening (Friday) which gets underway at 5pm.
Kathleen Chada has been invited to Tullamore by the Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service as part of the '16 Days of Global Awareness of Violence Against Women' campaign which began on November 25 and runs until December 10.
The Carlow mother lost her entire family when her two sons, Eoghan (10) and Ruairi (5) were murdered at the hands of their father, Sanjeev Chada, on July 29, 2013. Since then the brave mother has campaigned tirelessly to help preserve the memory of her beloved sons, which culminated with the publication of her memoir “Everything” to mark the 10th anniversary of their deaths earlier this year.
Kathleen Chada said she wrote the book to give her sons “the voice that was taken away from them” and she will read extracts from her moving memoir at the event in Tullamore Library on Friday evening.
This is the second time that Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service has invited Kathleen Chada to speak at one of their events, and CEO of the service, Anne Clarke said they are “delighted and honoured “ that such a powerful advocate has decided to return to Tullamore.
“We had Kathleen as the guest speaker at one of our International Women's Day events, and we are delighted that she has decided to return again to Tullamore again to read from her new book, which is a very painful, but beautiful celebration of the young lives of her two sons.”
The ODVSS event in Tullamore Library is free and open to the public. Seats can be booked by calling ODVSS on 057 9351796 or at info@odvss.ie
