Teacher-artist programme success at St Brendan’s PS Birr

There was a fantastic finale to the TAP (teacher - artist - programme) at St Brendan's Primary School in Birr before Easter as local artist Monica O Meara (Roscrea) came to school to organise the display of the children’s work.

The boys in 3rd and 4th classes had an amazing time over the past number of weeks and great credit to class teachers Ms Wyer and Mr Kennedy for their work supporting this. Both teachers attended a summer course in Laois Education Centre in 2023.

Monica also brought the classes to visit an art exhibition at Birr theatre to look at the works displayed and discuss them. Thanks for the warm welcome as always from the theatre.

Caretaker Mick Hansbury and teachers found a lovely spot to display in the entrance hall area. It’s a fantastic piece of art which all the boys can view each day and see their work and little initials in engraved in the hands. St Brendan's PS is proud that this pupil art creation is displayed proudly at the school and will hopefully inspire generations to follow.

The school thanked the artist and Laois Education Centre.
