Local teachers invited to take part in online social entrepreneurship workshop
The inaugural Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 competition is running in Midland counties this September, and will encourage Transition Year (TY) students to create their own social enterprises.
Social enterprises are businesses that address social or environmental issues while remaining financially viable.
In connection with this competition, on May 27, there will be an online workshop for secondary school teachers, organised by Social Enterprise Exchange (SEE).
SEE is a regional initiative connecting social enterprises in the Just Transition region covering the counties of Roscommon, Westmeath, Longford, Laois, Offaly and East Galway.
The upcoming workshop for TY Teachers will explore how introducing students to social enterprises and the social economy can help empower secondary school students to become changemakers.
The online workshop will offer TY teachers the opportunity to gain insights into how to guide students in developing innovative, socially-conscious business ideas that address real-world challenges.
The workshop will also highlight the importance of nurturing a social conscience in students and demonstrate how linking profit with purpose can build essential life skills.
The online event takes place on Tuesday, May 27, from 5pm to 6pm. A link will be provided upon registration. For further details and how to register, contact: info@socialenterprisesexchange.ie
