Clara native honoured with IACP Midlands Regional Award

Clara native Raymond Henry has been recognised for the positive impact he continues to have on his profession during the 10th annual Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) conference.

An active IACP member and leader for 27 years, Mr Henry was honoured with the Midlands Regional Award for his notable contribution to the profession of counselling and psychotherapy within the local community and region.

The award recipient's lasting contributions continue to have influence on the profession. Mr Henry’s volunteer experience includes serving in the role of Cathaoirleach twice, from 2010 to 2012 and from 2017 to 2020.

He was one of the founding members of the Midlands Regional Committee which was the first of its kind to be formed within the IACP and volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors, on the Supervisor Accreditation Working Group, Media Panel, and the Registers and Strategy Sub Group.

Reflecting on the award honour, Mr Henry said that he was "humbled" to receive the accolade.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in my nomination; I am delighted and humbled to receive the Midlands Regional Award. It has been a joy and privilege to volunteer alongside my colleagues in the IACP to further and promote the counselling and psychotherapy profession. I am most grateful for being recognised by my peers and for the support of the IACP," Mr Henry said.

IACP Chief Executive Officer Lisa Molloy described Mr Henry as a " guiding and influential member".

“I would like congratulate Ray Henry our Midlands Regional Award honouree and acknowledge his outstanding contributions to his community and the counselling/psychotherapy profession. I had the pleasure of working closely with Ray during his time as Cathaoirleach, Company Secretary and on the Board of Directors.
