Offaly Hospice Foundation calls for Sunflower Day support
Offaly Hospice Foundation is calling on community support for Sunflower Days which is returning for its 35th year on Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7.
As well as the on-street collection, the public can also support Offaly Hospice Foundation by donating online throughout the month of June at www.sunflowerdays.ie. Every euro raised locally, stays locally and the donation will go directly to Offaly Hospice Foundation.
The funds raised play a vital role in supporting the delivery of specialist palliative care in communities across Ireland. Hospice and specialist palliative homecare services provide free-of-charge care and support to those living with a life-limiting illness, whilst also helping and supporting the patient’s family members. The funds raised in Offaly will support Night Nursing, Specialist Children’s Resources, Exceptional Needs Funding, Bereavement Support, Complementary Therapies, as well as Training and Education. In 2024, funding also enabled the replacement of Syringe Pumps. As this demonstrates, every contribution directly benefits vital services within our local community.
Speaking at the launch of the 2025 Hospice Sunflower Days campaign, Mary Murphy, Fundraising, Offaly Hospice Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to launch the 35th Hospice Sunflower Days campaign. We rely so much on the public’s support which allow us to continue to support vital services delivered by Offaly Palliative Care team. We are calling on everyone from Offaly to donate what they can, either on-street or on-line this June, as every euro raised locally, stays locally and really does make a big difference at a local level.”
Hospice Sunflower Days Ambassador, Miriam O’Callaghan, commented, “The Hospice Sunflower Days campaign is one I am absolutely delighted to support as I have seen firsthand the fantastic work and care that hospices and homecare services provide to patients and families all across the country. With hospices needing to raise approximately €20 million each year to continue to provide their specialist care, it is so important for the public to show their support by donating on-street or on-line during this year’s campaign.”
You can support Offaly Hospice Foundation by donating to the on-street volunteers on Friday, June 6 or Saturday, June 7, or by donating online throughout the month of June via the website, www.sunflowerdays.ie.
