Plans to redevelop Old Library building in Shinrone
Plans to provide a much needed community space and childcare facility at the Old Library in Shinrone are progressing.
The redevelopment aims to revitalise the vacant property and will be presented to Offaly County Council for approval following a planning process public consultation phase.
Funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, the design team, led by Kenny Lyons Associates Architects, has progressed designs for the project with significant input from Shinrone Community Steering group and support from Offaly County Council.
Shinrone Steering group representative Joe Cleary has welcomed the redevelopment stating that the building "played an important role in the life of the community of Shinrone", while Cathaoirleach of Birr Municipal District Cllr Peter Ormond said that the completed project would "significantly enhance the local area while creating a building that reflects the values and aspirations of the community.”
Meanwhile, Town Regeneration Officer Olwen Cummins highlighted the importance of the redevelopment thanking the community at large for their "continued patience and support for the project".
