New East Offaly wind farm plan
A nine-turbine windfarm is being proposed for a site in east Offaly.
The Derrynadarragh Wind Farm is proposed to be located on the border of East Offaly and West Kildare, close to Bracknagh village.
The developers, Dara Energy Limited, say the project could consist of nine wind turbines with an output of 50MW – 65MW. The study area the turbine locations are within the townlands of Aughrim, Derrylea, Clonsast Lower, Chevychase or Derrynadarragh and Pollaghnagaraigue
The project team is preparing a planning application which is expected to be lodged in early Autumn.
The company has said the turbine towers would be approximately 105m in height, and some 186m in height when the tip of a blade is at its highest point.
