Offaly weather forecaster says temperatures "could hit 28 degrees" this week
Offaly weatherman Cathal Nolan, of Ireland's Weather Channel, has predicted that temperatures will climb steadily over the coming days, and could reach 27 or 28 degrees by the end of this week.
And - in further positive news - he said current indications are that the good weather spell will continue on into next week.
On his Ireland's Weather Channel Facebook page Cathal, from Rhode, shared a video update on the week's forecast from the sunny Algarve this evening (Monday).
"We're very happy to confirm that the warmer weather that has been impacting parts of Europe over the last while is on its way to Ireland as well," he stated.
He said that, while "a little bit of cloud pushing in from the west" could bring the odd shower tomorrow (Tuesday), conditions in general will be dry and humid.
Temperatures will then begin to rise further on Wednesday and Thursday, he said, when they will reach the low to mid-20s.
"Certainly by the time we get to Friday and the weekend we could see temperatures up to 27, 28 degrees Celsius in some parts - really very warm temperatures indeed.
"That weather, at the moment, looks like holding as well into the following week, with temperatures again staying into the mid to high-20s in some locations," he added.
