Minnock wins Naomh Mhuire 5k race in Daingean
A total of 34 Tullamore Harriers club members made the short trip to Daingean for the penultimate round of the Healthy Offaly 5K Race Series on Friday last. Neighbouring club Naomh Mhuire AC hosted Round 7 on a beautiful Friday evening over a slightly altered course from previous years.
Once again, Kevin Minnock claimed victory, matching his winning time from the Ferbane 5K with an impressive 15:31. Hot on his heels was clubmate Paul Mitchell, finishing just two seconds behind in 15:33 to secure 2nd place.
Next over the line for Tullamore Harriers in 7th place was Barry Minnock in 16.17. Barry was 1st in the O50 age group with Brendan Abbott taking the win in the O60 category and Eileen Kenny top of her age group also. Andrea Ryan was the first junior lady.
The men’s team of Kevin Minnock, Paul Mitchell, Barry Minnock and Barry Mooney secured first place. The women’s team - Niamh McEnhill, Charlotte Abbott, Maeve Larkin and Eileen Kenny finished third, just edging out Ferbane by one point.
Huge congratulations to all who competed, and sincere thanks to Naomh Mhuire AC for hosting such a well-organised event, with fantastic support along the route and a superb spread of food and refreshments at the finish.
