Tullamore drama group to stage three plays this week
Tullamore Amateur Dramatic Society (TADS) will open three nights of the best in local drama in Esker Arts Centre tonight (Tuesday, July 1) when they present 'SUMMER SHORTS' - a series of three one-act plays.
While the three plays (three for a tenner) will feature some familiar faces, they will also see some new talent taking to the Esker Arts stage over the next three nights. The plays also offer two new directors (Frances Doyle and Dermot Muldowney) an opportunity to ‘cut their teeth’ in local drama circles.
Frances is no stranger to acting and has appeared in TADS’ recent production of The Year of the Hiker and in an earlier TADS’ production The Cripple of Inishmaan. Dermot is not only directing one of the plays, but he has also written it. Originally from Portlaoise, he joined TADS many years ago, and most recently appeared on stage in A Midsummer Night's Dream, by William Shakespeare. He is also an active member of Laois Open Door drama group.
Tickets are available on eskerarts.ie for €10 for all three plays, which open tonight (Tuesday, July 1) and continue until Thursday, July 3, inclusive, at 8pm each night.
