Tullamore's Ciara honoured for 'quick thinking' in Australian outback rescue
Tullamore native Ciara Wrafter has been honoured for her 'quick thinking' during the rescue of a stranded train driver in the Australian outback.
Ciara carried out the rescue alongside her colleague Reanne Fuller, both of which are employed by Pilbara Traffic Management (PTM), a leading provider of comprehensive traffic management and rail safeworking services in Western Australia, serving both urban and remote regions.
Recognising the young women's outstanding efforts, PTM said: "We’re proud to share that PTM’s Reanne Fuller and Ciara Wrafter have been recognised by our client NRW for their professionalism and care after assisting a stranded driver near Hope Downs 1.
"The driver, facing 45-degree heat with a blown tyre and no phone reception, was in distress when Reanne and Ciara responded to his radio calls. They ensured he had water and contacted their supervisor, who arranged mechanical assistance.
"NRW highlighted this as a ‘success story,’ commending the PTM team for their quick thinking, compassion, and teamwork. The driver’s gratitude, shared through heartfelt messages, further underscores the importance of their actions. This recognition reflects the high standards PTM upholds in every aspect of our work, whether managing traffic or supporting the community.
"We are honoured to have such dedicated team members representing PTM. Congratulations to Reanne and Ciara on this well-deserved recognition!"
