Just in: Yellow thunderstorm warning issued for Offaly and surrounding counties

A status yellow thunderstorm warning has just been issued by Met Éireann, with lightning damage possible this afternoon.

The alert, issued at 12:26pm on Monday, July 14, is already in effect and will remain active until 4:00pm today.

The warning applies to Offaly, as well as Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Meath, Westmeath, and Wicklow.

Met Éireann is advising the public to be prepared for potential thunderstorms, which may bring hazardous lightning and localised disruptions.

Motorists and outdoor workers are urged to exercise caution during the warning period.
