€868,330 in funding for Offaly group water schemes

A total of nine group water schemes in Offaly will benefit from an allocation of over €868,000 which is designed to improve the quality, quantity and reliability of the water services across the county.

Leamore/Leabeg Group Water Scheme (GWS) was awarded the largest allocation of €292.500 for the taking in charge of its group water and sewerage schemes, while the second largest allocation, of €138,500 went to the Shandra Lane GWS.

Killeigh/Cloneygown GWS was awarded €55,250 to address water conservation and leakage reduction and prevention, while Clareen – Aghancon also received funding to address the same issues.

Endrim GWS and Bishopswood GWS were the recipients of €82,500 each for the taking in charge of their group water and group sewerage scheme, while €38,500 was allocated to Ballindarra GWS.

The local allocations are part of a €74 million capital investment funding programme for rural water services nationwide which was announced by Minister for Housing, James Browne, earlier today (Tuesday) under the Multi-Annual Rural Water Programme 2024-2026.
