Mary Sheerin Memorial Concert cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances

Popular Midlands entertainers The Sheerin Family Band have announced that their upcoming concert in memory of their mother, Mary, has been cancelled.

The event - at which the band was to be joined by Robert Mizell, John Hogan, Cliona Hagan and others - had been scheduled to take place in Cooney's Hotel, Ballymahon, this coming Tuesday, July 29.

In a social media post, the band wrote: "Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, next week's show in Cooneys Hotel Ballymahon is cancelled. Our August show is also cancelled."

The band confirmed however, that the concert in memory of Mary Sheerin, would now take place in September.

"We will return on September 18 with The Mary Sheerin Memorial Night," stated its post.

Mary Sheerin from Maghera, the Pidgeons, between Athlone and Ballymahon, who was a founding member of the Sheerin Family Band, passed away on August 3, 2021, at the age of 78.
