SIPTU workers at Edenderry Power Plant vote in favour of 'significant' pay deal

The SIPTU trade union has announced that its members at Bord na Móna's Edenderry Power Plant voted unanimously to accept a "significant" three-year pay deal, which it said represented "an important step" in securing clarity on pay progression and also reinforced commitments on workplace engagement.

SIPTU said on Thursday that the agreement, which runs from April of this year to March 2028, includes a 3.75% increase in year one, another 3.75% in year two, and a 3.5% rise in year three.

Negotiators from both sides acknowledged the challenges of operating in the electricity market, where volatility demands flexibility to ensure plant availability.

As part of the deal, employees have committed to maintaining this flexibility while the company confirmed there will be no cost-increasing claims for the duration of the agreement.

Any matters relating to ongoing change are to be dealt with through established industrial relations processes.

The agreement also provides for continuous engagement, with monthly meetings between management and workers forming a key part of communication.

SIPTU Sector Organiser, Ted Kenny, said: "This deal strengthens industrial stability within Bord na Móna and provides long-term certainty for employees as the company continues to adapt to Ireland’s evolving energy landscape.

"All staff who have transferred from Bord na Móna Land and Habitats into employment at the Edenderry Power Plant will also receive these pay increases."
