Presidential candidate Jim Gavin meets with Offaly Fianna Fáil members
Presidential hopeful Jim Gavin received a warm welcome from Fianna Fáil members and supporters at a packed event in the Tullamore Court Hotel yesterday (Wednesday).
The gathering marked Fianna Fáil’s first presidential campaign in 27 years.
Gavin was formally welcomed by Offaly CDC Chair Ronan Feighery, Deputy Tony McCormack, and Kerry TD Michael Cahill.
In his speech, Gavin pledged to protect the Irish Constitution, stressing the need for a president who actively safeguards its values.
He also called for empathy and bridge-building on the path to a united Ireland, while vowing to highlight both those in need and the “unsung heroes” of Irish society.
“The presidency should be a unifying force,” Gavin said, adding that the role must inspire at home and represent Ireland with pride abroad.
The evening ended with strong endorsements from local members as Gavin continues his campaign ahead of the election on October 24.
