Public appeal launched in support of family impacted by Kilcormac house fire
A public appeal has been launched following a devastating house fire at a family home in St Cormac's Park, Kilcormac, on Thursday evening.
The blaze started at approximately 6.30pm and was tackled by Offaly Fire and Rescue Service, who brought it under control.
Gardaí attended the scene and are investigating the cause. Two adjoining houses also suffered smoke damage, but there were no physical injuries reported.
Chloe Grennan has set up a gofundme page to help support family member's impacted by the house fire.
"Yesterday evening (Thursday), the unthinkable happened, something you think will never come to you or your family's door.
"A fire broke out at my daughter's father's home house and spread very fast. Although a home is who is in it and not just a building itself, there were two very important little family members inside, Ziggy (5) and Zack (3), my daughter's beloved bulldogs, who unfortunately didn’t survive the rapidly spreading blaze.
"No amount of money or words could ever replace these two little bundles of absolute craziness and cuteness and there is truly a hole in all of our hearts forever.
"I’m starting this gofundme page to restore their faith in life and help out with missing belongings as they only walked out with the clothes on their backs and the shoes on their feet after 35 years in this home.
I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this, I’d also like everyone to keep Ziggy and Zack in their prayers and to hold their fur balls a little tighter when hearing this," Chloe said.
