Sacred Heart School teachers nominated for STEM Mentor of the Year award
Sacred Heart School teachers Ms Sindy Meleady and Ms Aisling Burke have received a joint nomination for STEM Mentor of the Year at the Business Post Women in STEM Awards 2025.
Ms Meleady and Ms Burke both played a key role in the success of the Sacred Heart Schools all-female robotics team 'The Steminists', who received the title for VEX Robotics World Championships earlier this year.
The duo have received one of six nominations in the STEM Mentor of the Year category for the awards.
The Sacred Heart School shared its excitement about the nomination, taking to social media to announce the news.
"From launching SHS Robotics in 2019, to creating our STEM Lab in 2023, to leading the first all-female SHS team to the VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas — their leadership and vision continue to inspire.
"We are so proud of these incredible mentors who are breaking barriers and putting SHS on the global STEM stage!"
Other nominees include Calister A. Simba from Allianz Ireland, Karen Conway from Fidelity Investments Ireland, Tracey-Jane Cassidy from Junior Einsteins Science Club, Sheila Porter from Scifest, and Dr. Deirdre Murray from Trinity College Dublin and Beaumont Hospital.
The Business Post Women in STEM Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at The Round Room, Mansion House, Dublin.
The event celebrates the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and serves to inspire the next generation of female innovators and leaders.
There are 16 categories in total at the Business Post Women in STEM Awards, including STEM Woman of the Year, Role Model of the Year, STEM Employer of the Year, and Outstanding Returner, to name a few.
