Tullamore for Gaza take action over Sumud Flotilla interception this evening

Tullamore for Gaza is holding an action at the Kilbeggan Bridge in Tullamore this evening at 6pm, in support of the members of the Sumud Flotilla and in solidarity with Gaza.

On Thursday, October 2, the Gaza Sumud Flotilla, which was carrying aid to Gaza, was intercepted by the Israeli Navy, detaining hundreds of people.

A total of 16 Irish citizens were on board vessels travelling as part of the flotilla, alongside Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and hundreds of others.

"We commend their bravery and willingness to take such a grave risk in seeking to deliver aid to the people of Gaza," wrote the Tullamore for Gaza group.

"We are calling on all members of the Sumud Flotilla, including the sixteen Irish citizens, to be immediately released from Israeli detention."
