Urgent Clara Christmas lights appeal after public fails to attend meeting on issue

"Please don’t let the lights go out".

That was the appeal issued by the voluntary Clara Christmas lights committee this week, after a recent meeting called to plan the 2025 Christmas lights saw no members of the public attend.

The meeting had been arranged for the Scouts Den on September 23 and was publicised in the media in advance.

Issuing an urgent appeal to keep the Christmas lights in the town this festive season, the committee said: "At a recent public meeting, called to plan this year’s Christmas lights, not a single member of the public attended.

"Clara's small volunteer committee has worked tirelessly to bring Christmas magic to the town.

"The committee is appealing for: a qualified electrician; a licensed cherry-picker operator; and strong volunteers.

"Unless volunteers step forward immediately, there will be no Christmas lights this year. Please don’t let the lights go out."
