FilmOffaly to host Acting for The Screen workshop

FilmOffaly, a project of Offaly County Council, will host a drama workshop for Offaly-based actors of all levels who want to learn more about acting for film and TV.

The Acting For The Screen Workshop will be held at the Tullamore Court Hotel on Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9. Over the weekend students will be introduced to the basics of film acting through a variety of practical acting exercises. They will also learn more about different film crew roles and the practical aspects of filmmaking, together with the knowledge and feedback needed to take the next steps in their careers.

The tutors for this course are Laura O'Shea and John Cronin. Between them, Laura and John have 30 years working in the Irish film and television industry, as well as a decade of teaching acting for screen at the internationally renowned Bow Street Academy. They are very excited to bring that combination of expertise and experience to Offaly and share it with prospective screen actors over a weekend that will be innovative, challenging and lots of fun!

“It’s great to welcome Laura and John to Tullamore to run this workshop and it will be an exciting weekend for anyone who is interested in trying something new and learning the mechanics of screen performance. We could end up unearthing the next generation of Irish screen acting talent here in Offaly," FilmOffaly’s Darren Lee said.

The weekend is free to Offaly residents aged 18+, with any level of acting experience. The main thing is that they should be curious about what being in front of the camera entails and be confident enough to learn some short scenes for the exercises.
