Killina students raise €516 for youth mental health charity

Four social awareness prefects in Killina Secondary School in Rahan came up with an ingenious plan to raise funds for youth mental health charity, Jigsaw, when they organised a very enjoyable 'Compliments and Coffee' morning for staff in the school.

The four, Eve Crowley, Eimear Cotter, Alanah Ward and Amelie Guiney, raised the grand total of €516 for Jigsaw as a result of their novel idea to provide hard-working staff in the school with coffee and a range of treats during their break from classes.

In a social media post the school complimented the enterprising prefects on "A great idea and a great return for a wonderful service."

JIGSAW is a mental health charity that provides free therapy and support to young people between the ages of 12 to 25 who are living in Ireland.

The fundraising initiative was organised in Killina to mark World Mental Health Month, which takes place annually in October.
