Work of Tullamore hospital's Advance Nurse Practitioners celebrated
This week (November 9-15) is Advanced Nurse Practitioner Week, an international celebration recognising the vital contributions made by Advanced Nurse Practitioners to modern healthcare.
And the occasion has been marked at Tullamore Hospital, which has honoured its Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) staff for their dedication to delivering high-quality, person-centred care across the Midlands.
ANPs are expert nurses who have completed advanced clinical education and training, holding Masters degrees and practising with autonomy and accountability.
Brendan Malone, Interim Director of Nursing at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore commented: "Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners are a cornerstone of patient-centred care.
"Their advanced training and clinical insight allow them to deliver timely, expert interventions that improve access and outcomes. Their ability to manage complex cases and lead care delivery is a tremendous asset to our hospital and our patients."
ANPs are uniquely positioned to deliver a complete episode of care, developing and managing treatment plans that prioritise safety, quality, and holistic outcomes.
A statement issued by the HSE said Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore was this week proudly recognising the expertise and dedication of its 15 Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioners and 4 ANP candidates, delivering advanced, person-centred care across a wide range of specialties including Oncology, Haematology, Older Person Services, Emergency Care, Tissue Viability, Diabetes, Renal, Rheumatology, ENT, Respiratory, Palliative Care, Cardiology, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Alice Farrelly, Frailty ANP, and one of the event organisers, added. "What sets ANPs apart is our dual lens of nursing compassion and medical precision.
"We look beyond symptoms to understand the full picture of a patient’s health and wellbeing. Our goal is to empower patients with the knowledge and support they need to make informed decisions and live healthier lives."
Louisea Bourke, General Manager at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore concluded: "ANP Week is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication and expertise of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
"Their leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence continue to shape the future of healthcare in both Tullamore and the Midlands region."
