Tubber native excited to take part in new season of Glór Tíre
Tubber native Megan O'Hara will be a contestant on the 22nd season of Glór Tíre, the popular country music competition which airs on TG4.
Describing herself as "still in shock" from the news, Megan said she received word of her programme selection four weeks ago, but is looking forward to performing on the show.
Megan has been paired with mentor Michael English and this week travelled to Spiddal where she participated in the first programme recording of the new series to air in early 2026. During the recordings, Megan will perform both solo and duet songs with her mentor.
"It’s such an honour to have been chosen by the wonderfully talented Michael English for the new season of Glór Tíre. I have always had a big interest in the show and since my return to music earlier in the year, it was in the back of my mind to send in an audition video for the programme," Megan said.
With the help of Mark Cahill at the Ivory Sessions and Aidan Farrelly at Bad Apple, Megan recorded and submitted her audition video and much to her surprise received the much welcome news from the programme's producers.
Megan is one half of The Band Sí, which she formed with her mother Teresa earlier in the year, her return to the music scene allowing her "on-stage confidence to grow".
The duo recently recorded a cover of 'Does He Love You?' by Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire with the Ivory Sessions in Meath and has plans to record two more songs for distribution to radio stations nationwide.
"I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share my passion for music on a national stage and working with Michael English will allow me to grow as a country music artist. Performing on such a well know programme as Glór Tíre and receiving great advice from an artist so long in the industry can only serve me well into the future," Megan said.
Prior to her trip to Spiddal, Megan performed with her mentor in the Bridge House Tullamore during the renowned country singer's live set at the the Tullamore venue on Sunday night.
"It was great to have the opportunity to sing with Michael at the weekend and get a feel for what is to come," Megan added.
Megan said the support she has received since the news was confirmed "has been through the roof", hoping that such support will be sustained throughout her time on the show, the winner of which is chosen by a public vote.
Season 22 of Glór Tíre will air on TG4 in early 2026, with broadcast dates between January and March.
