Equipment stolen from council yard

Birr Gardai are investigating.

An estimaed €3,000 worth of tools and equipment were stolen from Offaly County Council's yard in Gallen on Ferbane during Wednesday night.

Gardai are appealing to members of the public who may have seen suspicious vehicles or individuals acting suspiciously in the area to contact them.

They are also asking people with CCTV coverage from the area and from the Athlone and Cloghan sides of Ferbane to get in touch.

It's understood the tools and equipment included generators, power tools and chainsaws.

A separate break in the same night at the Bord na Mona facility in Leamonaghan is also being investigated.

Gardai in Birr are investigating the incidents.
