Homegrown talent exhibits this weekend in Tullamore

Local artist Mairead Dunne will exhibit a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings on Friday night in the Offaly Exhibition and Research Centre on Bury Quay in Tullamore from 7pm. Entitled "Parallel", the exhibition will be officially opened by writer Anne Egan. The exhibition will also be on show on Sunday from 2pm until 6pm.

Ms Dunne is currently based in Belfast, and has a Masters in Fine Art from the University of Ulster. Prior to that she graduated with an honours degree from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. She has exhibited in the past in Ireland, UK and further afield alongside Tullamore.

Her current exhibition features paintings based on themes of the uncanny, as well as showcasing a series of drawings based on the book "Gargantua and Pantagruel" by French writer Francoise Rabelais.
