Tullamore Town FC support Chasing Abbey as band announce debut album

Chasing Abbey have announced their debut album 'Cyber Celt', due for release on Friday, September 18.

The band formed in 2016, and consists songwriters, producers, and multi-instrumentalists Ronan Bell, Jonathan Byrne and Ted Conway.

The trio, who formed the band while they were still at school, have become known for their explosive fusion of electronic production and Celtic influences and have gone on to achieve multiple platinum singles, sell out venues across the world, and build a reputation for their powerful live performances.

The band said Cyber Celt represents "both a subtle description of the music and a philosophy we hold. The coming together of ancient and modern. A soulful respect for the tradition with a burning desire for innovation”.

“Although we’ve been a band for 10 years, this is our debut album. That might sound unusual, but our story was never one of overnight success," the band said.

"It has taken time to create this body of work. First, we had to learn and immerse ourselves in traditional Irish music and culture. Then we had to learn electronic music production, developing the skills to write, produce and mix our own tracks. Finally, we had to reconnect with the Irish language and bring it back to the forefront of our lives.

"All of that takes time, especially when there’s no blueprint to follow. Countless hours, countless sacrifices and a bond between us that has weathered every storm have brought us to this point. This album represents the fulfilment of a vision we’ve been working towards for a decade.”

Tullamore Town FC congratulated Chasing Abbey on the announcement of the album 'Cyber Celt', noting the clubs' "special connection" with the band.

"Two of its members having proudly worn the Tullamore Town jersey for many years, progressing through the age groups all the way to the senior team during their time at the club," the club wrote.

"It has been incredible to watch their journey and see the success they have achieved through talent, dedication and hard work. Their story is a reminder of the talent that exists within our own community and the heights that can be reached with perseverance and belief. We wish them every success with Cyber Celt and the world tour that follows."
