An Offaly national school has taken part in a Christmas greetings exchange project that has stretched all across the world. The short video put together by Clonlisk NS near Shinrone sends festive greetings to other selected schools in Australia, UK, USA, Jordan, Switzerland, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates as part of a video Advent calendar.
"It's a lovely idea," Principal of Clonlisk NS Mary Fitzgerald told the Offaly Independent. "It's well worth doing." As part of the project the 103 school children at Clonlisk NS have received Christmas cards from schools around the globe.
The scheme is an initiative of a #ccGlobal Schools project, set up by Sydney teaching and learning co-ordinator Liam Dunphy. The project sees educators around the world collaborating by connecting classrooms. Mrs Fitzgerald said she's fully behind the idea, but laments the time difference that makes collaborating live with schools in other time zones difficult.
The one minute thirty second video of photos from Clonlisk NS along with their Christmas message can be viewed online on the #ccGlobal Facebook page.
