The 2014 Eason Spelling Bee will officially get underway this morning (Thursday) in Offaly.

Over 1,000 schools – the largest number ever - have entered the competition that runs in conjunction with RTE 2FM’s Tubridy show.

The Offaly County Spelling Bee at 11am in St Colman’s NS in Mucklagh will kick off this year’s proceedings.

The winner of the competition will be invited to take part in the provincial finals in June, which will be aired on the Tubridy show on 2FM.
