Offaly TD to head up Oireachtas Committee on Jobs

Offaly Fine Gael TD Marcella Corcoran Kennedy has been appointed chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.

The position became vacant following the promotion of former chairperson Damien English, who is now Minister of State with Special Responsibility for Skills, Research and Innovation.

Deputy Corcoran Kennedy said she was delighted to be appointed, and that she looks forward to focusing on the important work ahead along with committee colleagues.

“I bring to the role of chairperson a wealth of experience as director of community enterprise boards and a personal interest in SMEs coming from a family of small business owners going back through the generations,” she added.

Deputy Corcoran Kennedy said the committee she now heads up is “one of the most relevant” to be involved in, and said she is confident she has the necessary skills to be an effective chair going forward.
