Tullamore girl awarded Sr Geneiveve Hassey Scholarship

Tullamore student Jade Bergin Dwyer has been named the successful recipient of the Sr Geneiveve Hassey Scholarship.

The scholarship, now in its second year, was founded in honour of a Sister of Mercy nun who has been a stalwart of St Mary's Youth and Community Centre for over four decades.

The scholariship is awarded by St Mary’s Youth and Community Centre and will provide Jade with €4,000 per year for the next four years as she studies to become a primary school teacher.

St Mary’s Youth Centre wished Jade every success throughout her studies, and

"We are delighted to be able to support another member of our Youth Centre community as she works towards her career ambitions.

"A special thank you also goes to everyone who applied for the scholarship this year. The standard of applications was excellent, and the decision was certainly not an easy one."

The Sr Geneiveve Hassey Scholarship opens each year during teenage musical in September and remains open for two weeks.
