Offaly fine gael td to seek election nomination

Local Fine Gael TD, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy, has declared her intention to contest the Fine Gael nomination for the forthcoming General Election at the Fine Gael Selection Convention this month.

The Fine Gael Convention is scheduled for the end of June in Tullamore and it will mark the first occasion on which delegates from the newly-created constituency of Offaly/North Tipperary will have an opportunity to vote in a General Election Convention.

Deputy Corcoran Kennedy, who was first elected to the Dail in 2011, served for ten years as a member of Offaly County Council prior to her election to Dail Eireann.

“I was very honoured and privileged to receive the Fine Gael nomination for Laois/Offaly in 2011 and over the past four years in Dail Eireann I have worked tirelessly to represent the views and concerns of my constituents,” said Deputy Corcoran Kennedy.

The Deputy, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, has expressed the hope that the local Fine Gael membership will endorse her nomination for a second time.

Deputy Corcoran Kennedy encourages the full Fine Gael membership in the newly-created constituency to attend the Selection Convention, which she says “presents a great opportunity for members to engage in political debate and to select the candidate who will represent the organisation in the forthcoming General Election.”
