Tullamore seek to add Towns Cup to All-Ireland crown
Tullamore RFC will be chasing their fifth Provincial Towns Cup final win this Sunday in Ashbourne when they meet Boyne, hot on the heels of their historic All Ireland Junior Cup win in Athlone. Tullamore have overcome Athy, Enniscorthy and Dundalk on their way to the decider as they attempt to recreate the heroics of just three years ago when the club last lifted the Towns Cup. Dave Hanlon is back from injury and in contention for a recall but will have to pass a stringent match-type fitness test. Philip Gardener"s display as replacement in the All-Ireland Junior Cup final has put him in the reckoning for a starting berth while coach Andy Melville will have to make some tough calls in reducing his replacements bench from seven to the five allowed in the Towns Cup.
