Two charged with attempted Edenderry bank robbery

Two men accused of conspiring to rob a bank in the Midlands appeared before Tullamore District Court on Wednesday. John O"Connell, 45, of Derrinturn, Carbury, County Kildare and John Foy, 45, from Croftwood, Ballyfermot, Dublin, were charged in connection with the attempted robbery of the Bank of Ireland in Edenderry last weekend. The court heard that when charged, Mr O"Connell replied 'not guilty', while Mr. Foy made no reply.Judge Conal Gibbons remanded O"Connell to appear at Cloverhill District Court today, while Foy was remanded to appear at Cloverhill next Wednesday. The two men were arrested in the Edenderry in the early hours of last Sunday morning and first appeared before Tullamore District Court late on Monday night.
