Call for artists for Tullamore Phoenix Festival

The Tullamore Phoenix Festival is looking for art work of all mediums from both professional and non professional artists to be included in their NoFixedAbode Visual Trail 2009 Exhibition which will be held from July 6 to 26. NoFixedAbode is an art exhibition in Tullamore, inhabiting spaces which have been begged, borrowed and stolen due to a lack of dedicated art facilities in the town. In response to the outdoor nature of the Phoenix Festival, NoFixedAbode intends to display work in shop windows and empty retail units which will allow work to be viewed from the street throughout the days and nights of the festival. Artists are invited to submit up to five works in any medium for either of strands of the exhibition. Phoenix Open Selection This strand is open to all professional artists working in any medium, painting, print, sculpture, video, media. All works will be considered however artists are asked to consider the location of work and the 24hr nature of the exhibition. Alongside the Open Submission Exhibition there will be a number of selected artists, selected by the curator as well as The Good Hatchery and Belmont Mills Studios. Merging Minds Selection This strand is open to non-professional artists and students working in any medium with a size restriction of A5 (half the size of A4). Entrants are invited to make work which can be hung on a wall, unframed and will be included in the Anonymous Auction. The Phoenix Award of €1,000 for An Outstanding Work in any Medium will be presented at the official opening of the NoFixedAbode Visual Trail on Monday July 6th in the Phoenix Studios (old Texas Warehouse) An award for an outstanding work in the Merging Minds Selection will also be chosen and will be presented at the event.
