Tenth annual Ferbane Feis Ceoil a tremendous success

The tenth annual Ferbane Feis Ceoil was held on Sunday June 21 in St Cynoc"s Primary School Ferbane. The Feis Ceoil, organised by Marion Kearns, was again a tremendous success with a large entry from all over the country. The competitions were divided into two sections - Classical and Traditional. There were 45 competitions in Piano, Violin, Accordion, Tin Whistle, Singing, Flute, Banjo, Keyboard and other instruments in various age categories, twenty eight of which had Perpetual Trophies on offer for the winners. The adjudicators were Ms Mary Callinan, Ms Deirdre Phelan and Mr Robert Harvey. The standard of the performances were extremely high with many having an eye on the upcoming provincial fleadhanna. The Feis Ceoil is a great opportunity for those taking part to display their talent in public, and to be rewarded for the many hours of learning and practice over the past year. Each competitor received a marking sheet with helpful comments from the adjudicators. The Feis Ceoil wish to sincerely thank all the adjudicators who had an extremely difficult task in selecting the prizewinners. The venue for the event was St Cynoc"s Primary school, kindly made available to the Feis Ceoil by Mr Fergal McMahon and his staff. The organisers particularly wish to thank the main sponsors Bord Na Móna Energy Limited and ESB Shannonbridge, without whose generous contribution the Feis Ceoil could not take place.
