Back to normal at Tanyard after fire evacuation

Staff and students at the National Learning Network Centre in the Tanyard, Tullamore, were back to normal on Tuesday morning after their building was evacuated on Monday due to a fire. Around 20 staff members and students had to be evacuated after a fire started at around 11am that morning in an adjacent derelict part of the centre, where building work was being carried out. The fire was caused by sparks from a con-saw which ignited material in a duct. All occupants escaped unharmed and three units from Tullamore fire brigade quickly brought the fire under control. The centre was smoke damaged but all courses are continuing uninterrupted.
