Bridge House among top carverys in country

Tullamore's Bridge House Hotel has been announced as one of "Ireland's Top 10 Great Carvery Venues of 2011" by Unilever Food Solutions. The hostelry is one of five hotels and five pubs on the list of ten that was recently revealed. Dishes that particularly impressed were the prime sirloin of Irish beef, chicken and mushroom vol au vents and bangers and mash. The eatery will now go on to Unilever's national final, when mystery carvery reviews will come into play. Judges include rugby pundit and broadcaster George Hook, Business Development Chef at Unilever Mark McCarthy and editor of Hospitality Ireland magazine Steve Wynne-Jones. Head chef at the Bridge House Hotel Paddy Kennedy said regardless of what happens from here they are thrilled, and being shortlisted is "a huge vote of confidence in our team and the world-class carvery fare we have on offer". The final two winners - one pub and one hotel - will be announced early next month. Both winners will get a commemorative menu board as well as an investment budget to put towards a national marketing campaign to promote their carvery.
