Author looking for locals with WWI family links

An Edenderry author is appealing for locals with ancestors who played a part in World War One to get in touch. Catherine Watson completed a project in 2010 about the First World War and the part Edenderry people played in it. She's now planning to publish her findings, and is interested in commemorating people who took part in the war in the book. "As the centenary of the start of WW1 is almost upon us the book will be a memorial to all those who took part but were forgotten," she said, inviting anyone with photos, stories or memorabilia to get in touch. "Whether it is a person who died in the War or one who survived and returned to civilian life in Edenderry or elsewhere, I'd love to hear about them," she said. Catherine can be contacted by emailing edenderryww1@gmail.com or calling 086 3608838.
