Novel festive fundraiser raises €450 for Birr schools

Four local schools benefited recently from a novel Christmas fundraiser by Jerros Boutique in Birr. Children in four schools - Carrig NS, St Brendan's Boys School, Mercy Girls School and Oxmantown NS - created art works that were then used on the front of Christmas cards. The resulting cards were displayed in the window of Jerros Boutique, and sold in packs of five over the festive period. The festive fundraiser succeeded in raising a total of €450, with all proceeds going to back to the schools that took part. Owner of Jerros Boutique Geraldine Kennedy presented funds raised and Christmas cards to the participating schools recently. Carrig NS and Oxmantown NS both benefited to the tune of €100, while St Brendan's Boys School made €50. Mercy Girls School got €200 from the project, which will now be used to buy books for literacy at the school.
