Convent Road, View traffic disruptions from next Monday

Traffic on Tullamore’s Convent Road and Convent View is to be disrupted for three weeks each starting next Monday to accommodate site works for the Tullamore Grand Canal Corridor Project.

The canal project includes the construction of footbridges and a boardwalk along the Grand Canal in Tullamore. Contractor Siac Construction will be implementing the traffic management measures at both locations.

A one way system is to be introduced on Convent Road from the junction at Kilbeggan Bridge for a distance of 60 metres in an eastern direction. That system will become active on Monday, March 25 and will remain in place for a period of three weeks. A diversion route during that time will be via Columcille Street, Harbour Street and Store Street.

On completion of that traffic management measure a one way system will be put in place at Convent View for three weeks. The system will be put in place from the junction with Kilbeggan Bridge, and will again be for a distance of 60 metres in an eastern direction. Diversion routes will be via Tyrrell’s Road, Callery Street and Davitt Street.
