Roy Jennings

DJ to make some dough for charity

One of the region’s most popular radio personalities will tomorrow (Thursday) be swapping his headphones for a hairnet.

Veteran radio host Roy Jennings is the first of the top Midlands 103 presenters to be auctioned off in the station’s 'Hire a Presenter' fundraising drive.

Apache Pizza in Mullingar is forking out €350 to have his services tomorrow, and they will also set aside an extra one euro for every pizza made by the new recruit.

The proceeds will benefit Living Links Midlands, Mr Jennings’ chosen charity, which provides outreach support to people bereaved by suicide.

Live updates on his progress will be broadcast on Midlands 103 throughout the day.

Midlands Today presenter Will Faulkner is the next member of the radio team to be sold off to the highest bidding company. Funds generated by him will benefit Irish Autism Action, based in Mullingar.

If you want to support any of the worthy causes you can email hire@midlandsradio.fm. Organiser Sinéad Hubble believes companies will get a huge return on investment in terms of positive publicity and good will.

“This is an unique opportunity for businesses in the midlands to get an extra pair of hands, raise their profile and help a worthy cause,” she said.

Breakfast host AM Kelly will be available to hire from Monday, June 17. The former Today FM presenter will be raising money for the Jack and Jill Foundation.
