Offaly 'pet parent' speaks about animal adoption

An Offaly woman who has adopted two rescue pets in recent years says that more people should consider becoming 'pet parents' for abandoned animals.

Geraldine Bigler has adopted a cat, Cora, and a dog, Joy, from the Offaly Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA). She says that Cora and Joy have enriched her life since they became part of her family.

“Cora is a stunning cat who was loved dearly by her owner who sadly passed away. She settled in very well and trained us to her ways. She is a right diva!

“Joy was dumped by the roadside in the dark, her coat was badly matted and she was neglected. We heard about her from the OSPCA and she found her forever home with us. She has lived up to her name and is a beautiful friendly dog.”

“The OSPCA do brilliant work and are always there to give advice and help. Just like to thank all the wonderful people who work tirelessly every day in the rescue centres throughout the country. Only for them there would be a lot more suffering and neglect of our animals,” Geraldine said.
