Operation Transformation's Tour of Offaly ready for off

Operation Transformation will be visiting towns and villages across Offaly in the next two months as part of its new series, which will be based in the county.

OT's resident fitness expert Karl Henry will be putting the people of Birr through their paces in Emmett Square tomorrow afternoon (Saturday January 4, 4.30pm) for the first Ad Break Challenge of the new series which gets underway on RTE 1 next Wednesday, January 8 at 8.30pm.

Henry will then visit Edenderry, Banagher, Clara, Moneygall, Kinnitty and Tullamore on successive Saturdays.

“We want as many people as possible to join us and kick start the new year with Operation Transformation. Which town will have the biggest numbers? Come out and support your town and enjoy the fun of the ad break challenges!” the Operation Transformation team said in a statement to the Offaly Independent this week.

This year's instalment of the lifestyle and fitness show will be based in Offaly with the weekly weigh in taking place in an, as of yet, unnamed Tullamore venue.

Local mother-of-two Jean Kinahan had been named as one of the leaders, but RTE revealed this week that she has pulled out for “medical reasons”. Another leader is Shane Farrell, a teacher in Sacred Heart Secondary School, Tullamore.
