'Boil notice' issued for hundreds on Clonbullogue water scheme in Offaly

A boil water notice has been issued for approximately 840 Irish Water customers supplied by the Clonbullogue Public Water Scheme in Offaly.

The boil notice was announced this evening (Wednesday), following consultations between Irish Water, the HSE, and Offaly County Council.

Irish Water said the move was "a precaution to protect approximately 840 customers while upgrade works to the disinfection system are underway at the water treatment plant."

It is advising people in Clonbullogue and surrounding areas to boil their water before use "until further notice".

Irish Water said it was contacting affected customers registered on its vulnerable customers register, and it reminded people to follow the HSE's Covid-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.
