Local ticket takes €33k after missing out on €8m by one number

The owner of a ticket for last night's lotto jackpot was an agonising one number away from scooping the €8m jackpot.

However, the Quick Pick ticket bought at the Centra store at the M6 Service Station in Kilbeggan will bring the owner the tidy cash prize sum of €33,443.

The lotto player was one of two, the other from Meath, to share a Lotto prize of €66,887 after both came to within one number of Saturday night’s Lotto jackpot which was worth €8,082,909. Both players matched five numbers and the bonus ball on the main Lotto draw and will each get a cash prize of €33,443.

The winner from Meath, purchased their Quick Pick ticket online on www.lottery.ie.

The Lotto numbers from last night’s draw were: 5, 11, 15, 19, 33, 40 and the bonus number was: 8.

This Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot will roll to an estimated €8.5 million.

A National Lottery spokesperson said, “While there was no winner of last night’s €8 million Lotto jackpot, two of our lucky players in Meath and Westmeath will share the Lotto Match 5 + Bonus prize of €66,887. If you are one of these big winners, we ask that that you sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie, and we will make arrangements for you to claim your prize.”
