Top White House official wowed by Tolü's N17 cover

More than six weeks after it first aired, Tolü Makay's stunning cover version of 'N17' is continuing to make waves around the world.

Samantha Power, who has been nominated for a key role in US President Joe Biden's administration, this week tweeted her admiration for the Tullamore singer's performance of the Saw Doctors' hit.

Referencing Tolu's roots in Nigeria and her upbringing in Offaly, Samatha said she had found the N17 rendition "so moving," adding that it would resonate with "anybody who's left a place".

Samantha Power was born in Dublin and her late father, dentist Jim Power, was a native of Athlone.

It was announced last month that she was being nominated to head the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Here's her tweet which included a link to the video of Tolü's rendition of N17 with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra:

So far, the video of the song has been viewed 260,000 times on YouTube alone.
