Met Éireann issues 19-hour warning for strong winds

Met Éireann has today issued a nationwide warning for strong winds from noon tomorrow (Wednesday) until 7am on Thursday.

The forecaster said the yellow-level warning was being issued due to southwest winds that are expected to gust to 90 to 110km per hour generally, with stronger gusts expected at times on hills and coasts in the south and west.

After some pleasant, spring-like conditions in the last week, the weather in general has been taking a turn for the worse, with fairly extensive outbreaks of rain likely this evening and tomorrow.

It will continue to be quite wet and windy on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures turning slightly cooler by the end of the week.
