Car and other items seized during CAB raid in Midlands

A Volkswagen Passat, financial documents, and other items have been seized during a search operation carried out by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) in the Midlands this morning.

The operation was designed to target an organised crime group based in Longford, which is suspected to be involved in the sale and supply of drugs, intimidation, unlicensed money lending, and extortion.

A total of six searches were conducted at five residential and one professional premises in county Longford this morning.

The searches were connected to a previous CAB operation in the county in July which saw over €100,000 in cash being seized, in addition to three caravans, eleven vehicles, Rolex watches and designer fashion items.

During this morning's searches, CAB was assisted by the Garda Emergency Response Unit and the Revenue Customs Dog Unit.

The 201 Volkswagen Passat was seized along with financial documents, electronic media, and documentation in relation to the ownership of assets.

Financial accounts containing over €37,000 were also "restrained" as part of the operation, which also saw eight dogs being taken into care by the local dog warden.
